Tamil Nadu Congress to elect new President by August; Party in search of appointment of woman TNCC chief

The Tamil Nadu Congress Committee (TNCC) will hold its organizational elections in June and announce its new president in August.

TNCC state president KS Alagiri said in a statement on Thursday that the party is trying for a new woman president.

The party will conduct elections for the booth level and block level office bearers of the party. A total of 600 election officials have been selected to conduct the party’s organizational elections from June 10, which will continue till the end of the month.

At least 15 lakh workers are eligible to vote in the organizational elections and said that these organizational elections will be the foundation of the Congress party in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections.

Notably, the Congress is in a political alliance with the DMK in Tamil Nadu and has 18 MLAs in the 234-member Assembly and the party has eight MPs in the Lok Sabha from the state.
