Tamil Nadu: CRPF constable shoots himself with service rifle in Coimbatore, dies

Coimbatore (Tamil Nadu) [India]May 28 (ANI): A constable of the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) committed suicide by shooting himself at the CRPF Central Training College at Kurudampalayam near Thopampatti in Coimbatore district on Saturday afternoon.

The deceased has been identified as 32-year-old Jagan, a resident of Perumalkulam in Thoothukudi district.

According to the police, Jagan’s family problems started after he got married for the second time, while the divorce case with his first wife was in between.

According to the police, he shot himself with an INSAS (Indian Small Arms System) rifle and died on the spot.

He said two bullets entered his neck and exited his head.

Soon after the incident Perinayakanpalayam DSP Namachivayam, Tudiyalur Inspector Rathinakumar and police arrived to investigate the matter.

Police took the body into custody and sent it to the Coimbatore Government Hospital for post-mortem.

Also, the police have seized the rifle and registered a case under relevant sections.
