Tamil Nadu firm bags Boeing contract to manufacture, supply aviation components

Chennai: A Tamil Nadu-based manufacturing company has bagged a contract from global aerospace giant Boeing to supply critical aviation components and deliveries will begin early next year.

Officials of the two companies exchanged contracts for the manufacture and supply of parts and components for Boeing’s products at the Secretariat here in the presence of Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin.

Aerospace Engineers Pvt Ltd (AEPL), headquartered in Salem, has won a long-term contract and this is the first such contract for the state from Boeing, the Tamil Nadu government said in an official release, a step towards the chief minister. Vision of “Made in Tamil Nadu”

Investing Rs 150 crore, AEPL will set up a new manufacturing facility dedicated to civil aerospace production in Hosur over the next 24 months with 1,25,000 sq ft of covered building space and 50,000 sq ft of its existing Salem facility will be expanded. The government said the additional facilities would create employment opportunities for 1,000 youth.

R Sundaram, CEO and Managing Director, AEPL said, “We are proud to be working with Boeing. The contract is a testament to our commitment to quality, accuracy and collaborative culture. The collaboration between AEPL and Boeing is an important milestone. and will accelerate the growing aerospace ecosystem in Salem.

Ashwini Bhargava, Director, Supply Chain Management, Boeing India, said, “This is a significant step forward in our commitment to the Government of India’s vision of an Atmanirbhar Bharat. As a company with a presence in India for over seven decades, Boeing is one of the largest companies in the country. Continuing to support the development of indigenous aerospace and defense capabilities.

Ashwani Bhargava and Sundaram exchanged contracts in the presence of Stalin, Rural Industries Minister TM Anbarasan and Chief Secretary V Irai Anbu.

An APEL release said it will begin delivering critical components to Boeing from the first quarter of 2022.

According to the press release, “For more than three decades, AEPL has been dedicated to manufacturing and supplying high-precision and high-quality parts and subassemblies to customers in the aerospace and defense industry.”

The company has many technologically advanced manufacturing capabilities and processes, and holds a number of quality certifications.
