Tamil Nadu Forest Department organizes competition for Wildlife week

The short film competition will have two categories – Under 18 years of age (3 minutes) and Above 18 years of age (5 and 10 minutes).

The Forest Department will organize various competitions for school and college students as part of Wildlife Week from October 2 to 9. The competitions will be organized under different categories.

According to a release, a short film competition will be organized on the topics of marine wildlife, mammal ecology, water birds, nesting behaviour, urban wildlife, climate change and wildlife, human-animal conflict, wetland wildlife and reptile life history.

The short film competition will have two categories – Under 18 years of age (3 minutes) and Above 18 years of age (5 and 10 minutes). Enthusiasts can mail their short films to wildlifeweekcud2021@gmail.com. The soft copy of the entries should reach the Forest Range Office, Cuddalore on or before 3rd October.

While the first prize winner will win a department sponsored trip to Kaziranga National Park, the second prize will go to the Jungle Lodge in Karnataka. The third prize will be a visit to the Mudumalai Tiger Reserve. The award winning short films will be screened at Tamil Nadu Forest Academy in Coimbatore on 7 October.

The department will also organize a drawing and essay competition as part of the function. The painting competition will be organized under the theme ‘Save Wildlife’ while the theme of essay writing will be ‘Forest/Wildlife Conservation’.
