Tamil Nadu HSC Result 2023: Some Tamil Nadu Board students who choose Mathematics as one of their HSC subjects can get extra marks

Tamil Nadu Board Class 12 students are eagerly waiting for the results of the Higher Secondary Certificate (HSC) examination 2023 to be announced by the Tamil Nadu Directorate of Government Examinations (TNDGE) on May 8. The Tamil Nadu HSC exam was conducted between March 13 and April 3, and all answer sheets have been evaluated. Students can check the HSC results from tomorrow at 9:30 am on the official website of the board, dge.tn.gov.in and tnresults.nic.in. Tamil Nadu School Education Minister Ambil Mahesh Poyamozhi will announce the results at a press conference at Anna Centenary Library tomorrow.

Additionally, HSC results will be easily available through National Informatics Centers (NIC). Additional websites are dge1.tn.nic.in, apply1.tndge.org, dge2.tn.nic.in and apply1.tndge.org

The evaluation of answer sheets started on 9th April and ended on 5th May. It is to be mentioned that some Tamil Nadu Board students who choose Mathematics as one of their HSC subjects can get additional marks. According to media reports, the Directorate of Government Examinations has issued a clarification stating that a mistake has been made in the Class 12 Mathematics question paper, as a result of which 5 marks will be awarded to students who attempt a particular question. TNDGE would provide benefit of doubt to students only if they had attempted question number 47(b), which the teachers claimed was unclear.

Most Class 12 students who appeared for the language paper I for the March 13 board exam thought the Tamil paper was easy, as reported by DTNext. Some questions, however, were challenging for some other students. A representative of the Directorate of Government Examinations later confirmed that two students from Vellore district were found to have indulged in malpractice.

In 2022, a total of 8,062,77 students appeared for their class 12 board exams. The Tamil Nadu State Board had reported an overall pass percentage of 93.76 per cent last year. Girls outperformed boys with a pass percentage of 96.32 per cent as compared to boys’ pass percentage of 90.96 per cent.
