Tamil Nadu locates students who dropped out of higher education, imparts skill knowledge

Tamil Nadu School education The department has traced the students who had dropped out and left studies after passing plus two course. According to sources in the state school education department, over 4,000 students have put off further studies and instead have taken up some jobs.

Some students were found working at brick kilns in Karnataka and Andhra and some were doing odd jobs to support their families.

A senior official of the department said that most of the students are dropping out due to poverty at home.

The School Education Department has tied up with the Tamil Nadu Skill Development Corporation to provide skills to these youth.

A department official told IANS that many girls who took part in the plus two course are married. Due to extreme poverty, peer pressure and other issues, many students drop out of higher education and join odd jobs.

Sources in the Skill Development Corporation told IANS that the certificate that students get after the skill training is of great importance.
