Coimbatore: Saddened by the death of their 14-year-old son, a couple committed suicide by hanging themselves at their residence in December 2021. Kalangali Near suluru on Monday.
The deceased have been identified as 36-year-old V Sathyaraj and his wife S Saranya. Sathyaraj was employed as an operator of a CNC (Computer Numerical Control) lathe machine. The couple’s 14-year-old son Shyam had died of dengue in December 2021.
The couple did not come out of the house on Monday morning and when neighbors knocked on the door, there was no response.
When Sathyaraj was found hanging from the fan and his wife was found dead on the floor, the neighbors broke the lock of the house.
Sulur police sent the dead bodies Coimbatore Medical College Hospital (CMCH) for post mortem,
Preliminary investigation revealed that the couple were residents of Mysore and had settled in Kalangal 15 years ago. Police have registered a case under section 174 CrPC.
