Tata Motors hits the accelerator; Reaches the milestone of 50 lakh passenger vehicles

Automobile giant Tata Motors on Friday announced that the company has achieved a significant milestone by producing a total of over 50 lakh passenger vehicles.

“This journey, from each million to the next, is filled with its fair share of ups and downs,” Tata Motors Passenger Vehicles Managing Director Shailesh Chandra said in a statement.

The company noted that it was able to grow from 4 million cars to 5 million units within three years despite the COVID-19 and semiconductor shortage crisis that plagued the global automotive industry. To celebrate the five millionth production milestone, Tata Motors will launch a festive campaign for customers and employees across the country.

The company said it will organize month-long celebrations at its manufacturing locations and regional offices. It announced a three per cent increase in total wholesale sales on Wednesday, reaching 79,705 units in February.

according to a statement from Tata MotorsThe company’s total vehicle sales in February 2023 increased by three percent to 79,705 units from 77,733 units in the same period last year. Domestic vehicle sales also saw a growth of six per cent with 78,006 units sold last month as compared to 73,875 units in February 2022.

According to the automaker, the company’s domestic sales of passenger vehicles, including electric vehicles, stood at 43,140 units in February, as against 40,181 units in the same period last year.

Besides this, the company said it saw a three per cent decline in total domestic sales of commercial vehicles, from 37,552 units sold in February 2022 to 36,565 units in the same month this year.
