Tata Motors is one of the major Indian automakers and has recently witnessed an increase in its sales numbers as compared to the previous year. The Indian auto major sold 47,170 units of its vehicles in August 2022, up 68 per cent as compared to 28,017 units in the same period last year. However, in July, the automaker sold 47,506 units in July 2022, a sales decline of 1 per cent. Needless to say, these sales numbers are not evenly divided among various models sold by automakers in India such as Tata Nexon, Harrier, Tiago, Tigor, and others.
Best Selling Tata Cars in India
The Tata Nexon compact SUV became the best-selling model of Tata Motors with sales of 15,085 units in the Indian market. Moreover, the SUV brought pride to its manufacturers by becoming the second best selling SUV in the country. The top spot was occupied by Maruti Suzuki Brezza, which sold 108 units more than the Tata Nexon in India.
The title of becoming the second best selling Tata car in India was held by Tata Punch, which managed to sell 12,006 units in August 2022. The punch was followed by the Tata Tiago, which had 7,209 units last month, which saw a growth of 27 per cent. yo sale. In August 2021, 5,658 units of Tiago were sold.

Meanwhile, Tata Altroz sold 4,968 units in August 2022, marking a 20 per cent decline in YoY sales. It is worth noting that last year 6,175 units of the model were sold. It was followed by Tata Tigor with 3,486 units sold and saw a massive 108 per cent growth in annual sales. The numbers indicate an increase in sales of the compact sedan over time.
Meanwhile, Tata Harrier and Tata Safari sold the lowest number of units, with Harrier selling 2,596 and Safari 1,820 units in India. It is to be noted that Tata Harrier witnessed a drop of 5 per cent in sales year-on-year while Safari managed to achieve 3 growth for the same.
