Taxi driver returns forgotten mobile phone in cab, wins hearts

The driver has been identified as Hiralal Mandal.

Passengers often forget their luggage in autos, buses and cabs. In most cases, those valuables are lost forever because someone or something steals them. However, there are some rare cases as well. A taxi driver in New Delhi is being praised for his honesty after he went the extra mile to return a mobile phone to a man who forgot it in the back seat of his cab.

Ultra runner and fitness coach Shajan Samuel shared the inspirational story on Twitter, and praised the driver, identified as Hiralal Mandal. Mr Samuel narrated how his colleague forgot his mobile phone in the cab he had booked from the Delhi airport. To their surprise, the cab driver came to the hotel where they were staying to return the phone. He also told that the driver told him that he had done this earlier too when a foreigner had lost his purse.

”We booked Meru cab yesterday late evening at Delhi airport. My colleague Vivek’s phone was lost in the cab, we didn’t have the driver’s number, so we thought we’d never get the phone back, and gave up hope, but to our surprise, the driver turned up at Heeralal Mandal Hotel. Phone.
@MeruCabs. Employees like Heeralal are an asset to your company, Heeralal has done this in the past as well, when a foreigner lost his wallet, he returned it too. Humanity is in his blood. Please take good care of her,” Mr Samuel wrote while sharing a picture of him returning the phone to the cab driver.

Many on Twitter were impressed by his honesty and asked if the user had rewarded him for his kind behaviour. Others also requested their company to reward the driver.

One user wrote, “It’s good to see such honesty in today’s times. It is good to acknowledge and appreciate good works.

Another commented, “Praise is good, but also reward him with real money.” A third said, “Nice people keep the world together… anonymous faces… keep doing your job.” ..regardless of what the world has become today. Heart touching.

The fourth said, “Great to see #humanity with #honesty in Delhi. And congrats on bringing this matter to #socialmedia and letting the world know that goodness does exist. @MeruCabs Many many congratulations to your employee Hiralal Mandal for this performance. “The strength of his character.”

Meru Cabs also replied to the tweet and wrote, ”Thank you Shajan for sharing your pleasant experience! We are proud of our driver partners who consistently exemplify our core values. Providing exceptional customer service is something we always strive for. We really appreciate your kind acceptance. Keep riding with Meru!
