TDP leaders entered the assembly premises in a protest rally

Telugu Desam Party (TDP) president N. Chandrababu Naidu and his party MLAs and MLCs entered the assembly premises on Thursday raising slogans against the “anti-people policies” of the YSR Congress Party government at a protest rally.

In the morning, opposition party leaders gathered at Venkatapalem and paid homage by garlanding the statue of the party’s founder, the late NT Rama Rao.

Mr Naidu said the people of Andhra Pradesh were at the receiving end of the YSR Congress Party’s “misrule”. “We pay the highest tariff in the country for petrol and electricity duty in diesel. Expressing concern over the deteriorating standard of living of the people of the state, he said, “The common man is burdened with municipal taxes, including the latest cess on garbage collection.”

He said that his party will continue its fight and bring the government to its knees on the issue of inflation.

Mr Naidu then led a protest rally that entered the assembly premises amid slogans demanding immediate steps to bring down the fuel price hike and bring down the prices of essential commodities.
