TDR scheme has helped GHMC save ₹3,400 cr so far: KTR

The Transferable Development Rights (TDR) scheme in the city has helped the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation save Rs 3,400 crore by helping it use 379 acres of private land for public purposes such as road widening, said the Minister of Municipal Administration and Urban Development (MA). & UD) KT Rama Rao has said.

Responding to the debate on voting of demands for grants related to MA&UD in the assembly on Saturday, he said that master plans would be prepared for all municipalities in the state for their speedy and planned development this year. On the achievements of urban development, he said that the green area in Hyderabad had increased from 331.15 sq km in 2011 to 81.18 sq km in 2021.

He said that Telangana would become a state with more urban population than rural population and Hyderabad would be the second largest city in the country in terms of population after Delhi. Thanks to strategic road development and other programmes, the city had become the fastest traffic city in the country with an average speed of 21 kmph.

He said that the state government had prepared a detailed project report with the help of Delhi Metro Rail Corporation for a metro rail link from Nanakramguda to the airport and it was estimated that around ₹5,100 crore would be required for the project. The government had allocated ₹375 crore for this purpose in the budget for 2022-23. He also announced that 64,000 double bedroom houses in the city would be allotted soon.

Responding to the debate on voting on Demands for Grants of the Medical and Health Department, Medical and Health Minister T. Harish Rao said that Telangana ranks third in the country in terms of per capita expenditure on health, which is now Rs 1,695 and its ranking There will be further improvement with the allocation in the budget, taking the per capita expenditure to ₹3,092.

He said that in the next few years it would become the first state in the country to have a medical college in every district. The state had opened 16 palliative care centers for cancer patients outside Hyderabad and the remaining 16 districts would soon have such centers.

Education Minister P. Sabita Indra Reddy, Tourism, Youth and Sports Minister V. Srinivasa Goud, Labor and Employment Minister C. Malla Reddy and Forest Minister A. Indrakaran Reddy also responded to the debate on the voting of demands for grants in his department.
