Team Uddhav’s Sanjay Raut sued for conspiracy to murder

Mumbai:

Shiv Sena (Uddhav Balasaheb Thackeray) leader Sanjay Raut has been accused of defamation, days after he received a life threat from Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde’s son.

The case against the Rajya Sabha MP was registered after a complaint was filed by former Thane Mayor Meenakshi Shinde, who claimed that the allegations against Lok Sabha MP Shrikant Shinde were false.

Mr Raut has been charged under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code relating to defamation, making false accusations, promoting enmity, insults intended to provoke breach of the peace and making statements for public mischief.

Earlier this week, Mr Raut complained to the police that Shrikant Shinde had hired Raja Thakur of Thane to kill him.
