tech regulator asks universities, colleges to recognize and admit students of vedic board

New Delhi: Technical colleges and universities have been asked to accept and admit the class 10 and 12 qualifications of school students of a newly recognized Vedic Board at par with that of any other regular school board.

A circular in this regard was sent by the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) – the country’s apex body on technical education – to all its affiliated institutions last week.

These students who qualify class 10 and class 12 exams will get Ved Bhushan and Ved Vibhushan certificates respectively.

As of now, only a limited number of higher education institutions, including 17 universities teaching Sanskrit, accept two certificates for admission. The universities include Rashtriya Sanskrit Sansthan (New Delhi), Rashtriya Sanskrit Vidyapeeth (Tirupati), Sri Venkateswara Vedic University (Tirupati), Karnataka Sanskrit University (Bengaluru).

The two certificates are expected to be accepted by more higher institutions in future following the AICTE circular.

“AIU, which is the body designated by the Government of India for the equivalence of school boards in India, has provided equivalence for class 10 and 12 board examination qualifications of Maharishi Sandipani Rashtriya Veda Sanskrit Shiksha Board (MSRVSSB) which will function regularly School boards within India. You are therefore requested that the Veda Bhushan and Ved Vibhushan certificates given to the candidates by MSRVVP for educational purposes are at par with the 10th and 12th class certificates respectively,” read the AICTE circular.

According to the material available online on the official website of Veda Vidya Pratishthan, students will study Vedas and Hindu scriptures as a part of their curriculum. For example, Class 12 students will study the ‘Brihadaranyaka Upanishad’, one of the major Upanishads of Hinduism. He also has the study of Ayurveda in his curriculum.
