He had threatened with his Twitter handle after Kohli came out in support of Mohammad. When Shami got trolled
A 23-year-old man from Sangareddy was picked up by a Mumbai police team on Wednesday for allegedly threatening the 10-month-old daughter of Indian cricket captain Virat Kohli and actress Anushka Sharma.
The accused has been identified as Akubathini Ram Nagesh, who lived in a rented house in the ODF quarters of the city. He is a software engineer and working in a private firm. Police from the Cyber Crime Wing from Mumbai reached the area on Tuesday night, but went ahead in arresting him at around 6 am on Wednesday. He was assisted by the officers of Indrakaran police station.
Police said the accused made rape threats from a Twitter handle – @criccrazygirl – which he operates, after Mr Kohli came out in support of his partner Mohammed Shami, who was called communal after India vs Pakistan T20 cricket. Trolling was being done online with abuses. Match on 24th October. Screenshots of the accused’s tweet were widely shared on social media.
Mumbai Police has registered a case against the accused under sections 374(a), 506, 500 of the Indian Penal Code and sections 67 and 67(b) of the IT Act.
