Telangana Chief Minister to meet PM Modi on the issue of distribution of paddy, water; AIIMS to visit sick wife

Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao arrived in Delhi on Sunday, where he is expected to meet the Prime Minister. Narendra Modi and on the issues of other Union Ministers paddy purchaseWater dispute etc.

On Sunday, Rao took a special flight from Begumpet airport and landed in Delhi. The Chief Minister of Telangana has sought an appointment with Prime Minister Modi for discussion and clarity on the paddy stock in the state and sought a tribunal. He is likely to meet Union Water Resources Minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat as well as Food and Civil Supplies Minister Piyush Goyal.

The Chief Minister also met his wife Shobha in Alli. India Institute of Medical Sciences. According to sources, his wife was admitted a few days back and she underwent treatment for her lungs after recovering from Kovid-19. His son, minister KT Rama Rao and daughter MLC Kavita have been visiting their mother for the past two days.

AIIMS Director Randeep Guleria along with his team of specialist doctors is monitoring his condition.

If KCR gets time to meet the PM, he can put up a wish list before the Center to procure paddy, resolve water sharing issues and set up a tribunal for the same because Telangana withdrew its case from the Supreme Court last week.

Andhra Pradesh, which gets enough water, is protesting the new tribunal sought by Telangana for allocation, use and distribution of fresh water in hydroelectric projects and power generation.

At the same time, Telangana sought suspension of the gazette notification issued by the Center on water disputes, besides opposing the Krishna and Godavari boards to take their stand on irrigation projects.

Earlier, Rao and his Andhra Pradesh counterpart YS Jagan Mohan Reddy attended the wedding of Speaker Pocharam Srinivas Reddy’s granddaughter in Shamshabad and blessed the newlyweds.

Rao spoke to Jagan and is understood to have raised water disputes, tribunals and hydropower generation. The CM reportedly sought his cooperation in addressing water sharing issues, irrigation projects and supporting Telangana to get its judicious water share from Krishna and Godavari rivers, AP to get its water share.

The two chief ministers were seen briefly discussing key issues. Along with KCR and Srinivasa Reddy, Jagan also shared his views.

Later, accompanied by Agriculture Minister S Niranjan Reddy and Civil Supplies Minister G Kamalakar, the Chief Minister flew to Delhi from Begumpet in a special flight from Hyderabad.
