From now onwards the Congress rulers will face the music, Rao said

The Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) working president and former minister KT Rama Rao on Wednesday accused Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy-led Congress government in the state of hoodwinking the people of Telangana with ‘impossible’ to implement poll promises. He also alleged that there were discussions in the legislative house during the earlier Congress regime.

“We released a white paper on the financial transactions annually and The Comptroller and Auditor General of India (CAG) has been releasing the report annually. Now they (the ruling Congress) have been verifying the audit accounts. Does anyone give promises after making calculations or start calculations after giving assurances? From now onwards, the Congress leaders will allege that the state has been in a debt trap when we came into power,” Reddy said accusing the Telangana government of misleading people with misinformation.

“One of the ruling party legislators has assured 45,000 jobs to the unemployed youth in his constituency. When somebody questioned them about how they’ll provide thousands of jobs, they didn’t answer. There is no clarity on the promise of jobs from their side. The Congress made so many promises and they would have to feel the burden when they are in government. From now onwards the Congress rulers will face the music”, he added.

The BRS leader was talking to reporters in corridors of the state Assembly. He was with Congress leaders, while Prasad Kumar was filing his nomination for the post of Speaker. Rao was there as Kumar’s proposer.

Chief Minister Revanth Reddy, Deputy CM Bhatti Vikramarka, and CPI legislator Kunamneni Sambasiva Rao among others were also present on the occasion.

Meanwhile, keeping its poll promise, the Congress last week launched two of the six poll guarantees. The government launched the Maha Lakshmi Scheme under which girls, women and transgender persons of all ages, who are domicile of Telangana, can travel free of cost on State Road Transport Corporation buses.

The scheme also promises to give Rs 2,500 every month as sustenance allowance; LPG cylinders for Rs 500; and free travel on RTC buses.

The government also launched the Rajiv Arogyasri Scheme to give financial assistance of up to Rs10 lakh, to families living below the poverty line.
