Congress MP N. Uttam Kumar Reddy along with former MLC S. Ramulu Naik and other leaders submitted a memorandum to him President Draupadi Murmu On important issues related to Scheduled Tribes in Telangana.

“On behalf of the 40 lakh tribal population of Telangana state (comprising Lambada, Gond, Koya, Erukala and other tribal communities) we humbly represent you for your kind intervention to increase the reservation for ST in Telangana from 6% to 10%. Let’s do it,” he urged the President.

Earlier, Shri Reddy along with tribal leaders participated in a National Seminar on Tribal Issues organized by All India Banjara Organizations at Constitution Club, New Delhi on the occasion of World Tribal Day.

“Reservation for STs in separate Telangana state should have been increased to 10% immediately in 2014 as per population. TRS government in Telangana says they have sent proposal to central government BJP government At the center they say that they have not received any resolution in the Parliament. “The tribals in Telangana have this constitutional right and they are looking to you to get their due reservation,” the memorandum to the President said.

The Congress MP also sought the intervention of the President of India in resolving the Podu land issues. “Lakhs of tribals in Telangana have been cultivating land in clear forest areas for several decades. They have been given rights by the previous governments. Now under various pretexts, the state government in Telangana is using brutal police force to evict the tribals,” he said.
