Telangana declares holiday in educational institutions till July 13 amid red alert

The Telangana government on Sunday declared a holiday for the next three days from July 11 to July 13 in all educational institutions in view of the incessant rains across the state.

The announcement comes after Telangana Chief Minister Chandrashekhar Rao held a high-level meeting with officials to review the situation in the state and the measures being taken by the government to prevent any loss of life and damage to property. Meanwhile, the CM directed the officials to take necessary measures.

The decision comes in the wake of IMD declaring a red alert for Telangana. It has been raining in some parts of the state for the last few days. Earlier this week, a school bus carrying 30 students was partially submerged in a flooded road in Telangana’s Mahbubnagar area today. Locals rescued the students from the bus, which was later brought out of the spot.

The incident took place between Machanpally and Kodur. A private school bus was passing under the railway bridge. The road was submerged due to heavy rains in the area. The driver tried to drive the vehicle in stagnant water under the bridge but he got stuck in the middle.
