Telangana devotee donates gold zari saree to Lord Balaji

Officials said that these sarees can fit in a matchbox.

Tirupati:

A devotee from Telangana presented two unique sarees, one with gold zari (fine thread) inlay, to Tirumala Sri Venkateswara Swamy and Tiruchanur Sir Padmavathi Devi temples in Tirupati, an official said.

The sarees presented by Nalla Vijay, which can fit in a matchbox, were presented through Andhra Pradesh Chief Secretary KS Jawahar Reddy.

Devotees presented sarees to Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) at Sri Padmavati Vishram Griha in Tirupati, the official said in a statement on Sunday.

“The saree gifted to Srivaru costs around Rs 45,000, while the saree donated to Ammavaru has 5 grams of gold zari in the weave,” the official said.

Meanwhile, the TTD, which administers the Tirupati temple, organized the annual Pushpayagam, the flower ceremony, at the Vontimitta Sree Kodandaram temple on Sunday evening.

About 2.5 tonnes of flowers comprising 11 varieties including six varieties of scented leaves were offered in the flower bath to the deities of Sri Sita Lakshmana Samata Sri Ramachandra Swami.

Besides this, Mr Reddy directed the TTD officials to make the services of the Pediatric Hospital available to the public by December.

He also inspected the construction work of the children’s hospital at Tirupati and the work site of the feed mixing plant and second unit of Agarbatti (incense sticks) at SV Goshala.

With the new feed mixing plant, the chief secretary observed that the TTD cattle would get better fodder to increase their milk production, while the second agarbatti unit would help meet the growing public demand for agarbatti.

Mr Reddy lauded the team of doctors led by Srinath Reddy for performing 1,300 heart surgeries at the pediatric hospital, apart from two heart transplants.
