He announced on Monday that he was breaking ties with the MAA and giving up the primary membership of the association. “It is a matter of self-respect for me. National Award-winning actor Prakash Raj said, “I will not work or be part of an association with such ideology.” However, he made it clear that he will not rule out acting in Telugu films if roles come his way, even if he is not a part of MAA.
Movie Artists Association elections were held on Sunday and Manchu Vishnu won against Prakash Raj. The campaign mainly focused on Prakash Raj being non-Telugu. “They have shown that a non-Telugu can become a member but cannot aspire to win an election. He has also talked about changing the bye-laws to not allow non-Telugus to contest elections. I understand it clearly,” he said.
Prakash Raj said that he is not taking a hasty decision in leaving the MAA. “I have understood the scenario. I understand the mindset,” he said, adding that I wish Manchu Vishnu would lead the MAA and fulfill all his promises.
The actor also referred to BJP state president Bandi Sanjay’s statement in which he praised the film actors for not opting for the ‘tukde tukde gang’.
“It’s his mindset to describe me. Despite all the criticism, I remained in politics even after I lost. Lok Sabha Elections will be held in 2019. But as far as MAA is concerned, I cannot be a part of an organization which has clearly shown that it does not want me.
