Telangana: Independence Day Diamond Jubilee Celebrations From August 8

Chief Secretary Somesh Kumar said here on Saturday that the Diamond Jubilee celebrations of the country’s independence, ‘Swatantra Bharat Vajrootsav’, would be organized across the state on August 8-22.

He reviewed the arrangements being made for the ceremony including distribution of one crore national flags to all the houses of the state. He asked the officials to work in close coordination to ensure that the event is conducted successfully without any disturbances. A high level Vajrootsav committee had already prepared a detailed program.

He said that the inaugural session would be held on August 8, in which ministers, MLAs and other public representatives would attend. Special programs on national integration will be organized across the state. He said that feature and documentary films on national integration and patriotism would be screened free of cost for school children in all cinema halls.

The Chief Secretary directed the officers to ensure that the national flags are distributed in all the villages, mandals and municipalities.

Officer on Special Duty to Chief Minister Deshpati Srinivas, Special Chief Secretary (MA&UD) Arvind Kumar, Principal Secretary (Home) Ravi Gupta, Principal Secretary (IT) Jayesh Ranjan, Secretary (GAD) V. Seshadri, Secretary (PR&RD) Sandeep Kumar Sultania, Ranga Reddy District Collector Amoy Kumar, I&PR Director B Rajamouli, Director (Culture) Mameidi Harikrishna and others participated in the meeting.
