The party K. Srihari, G. Re-nominated Sukendra Reddy; Selects the member of Rajya Sabha.

As expected, the ruling Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) announced the candidature of P. Venkata Rami Reddy, who succeeded Chief Minister K. Chandrashekhar Rao’s home district Siddipet, six names were finalized for several vacancies. In the quota of MLAs in the Legislative Council.

One wonders that there is one sitting member of Rajya Sabha Banda Prakash, whose term is till April 2024. He belongs to the same backward class community as former minister Eatala Rajender, who was recently re-elected from Huzurabad on a BJP ticket. Was dropped from the state cabinet in May this year.

Mr Prakash, a native of Warangal, is likely to be inducted soon in the state cabinet to fill the vacancy caused by Mr Rajendra’s removal.

Gutha Sukendra Reddy, former chairman of the Legislative Council, former Deputy Chief Minister Kadiyam Srihari, Telangana State Co-operative Apex Bank chairman Takelapalli Ravinder Rao and former Congress leader and cricketer Padi Kaushik are among others. Reddy.

Interestingly, the party decided to nominate Kaushik Reddy among the six candidates, despite the fact that the state cabinet had unanimously recommended his name under the governor’s quota to the Upper House in the Telangana Legislature. The file is still pending with the governor, who recently said he needs some more time to file his nomination.

The election of all the six candidates is likely to go unopposed as none of the candidates from other parties have filed their nominations yet as they do not have enough strength in the Assembly to elect a candidate. Tuesday is the last date for filing nomination papers and if required, the date for voting is November 29.

The biennial elections for the six MLC seats under the MLAs’ quota will be held on June 6 this year when Akula Lalita, Mohammad Fariduddin, G. Sukendra Reddy, Nethi Vidyasagar, Bodakunti Venkateswaralu and K. It has become necessary after Srihari’s retirement. However, the elections could not be held on time due to the situation of the COVID-19 pandemic.

The TRS leadership did not choose four of the outgoing members, Ms. Lalita, Mr. Fariduddin, Mr. Vidyasagar and Mr. Venkateswaralu, for various political equations within the party, but they still stand an opportunity in the Local Authority Constituency (LAC) quota. The election process for 12 seats has started with the issuance of notification on Tuesday.

The 12 seats will next fall vacant on January 4 when the incumbent members complete their term. Apart from this the candidates of MLC seats also have a chance to fill the vacancy of Rajya Sabha seat for the remaining term of Mr. Prakash and two more Rajya Sabha vacancies will arise from Telangana in June next year.
