The BJP has said that Bandi Sanjay Kumar has been taken into custody in a “midnight operation” on “fabricated” allegations of his involvement in the secondary school paper leak.

Telangana MP and state BJP president Bandi Sanjay Kumar was taken into custody from his Karimnagar residence on Wednesday midnight ahead of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to the state.

The BJP has said that Bandi Sanjay Kumar has been detained on “fabricated” charges of his involvement in the secondary school paper leak.

A police team reportedly reached the residence of detainee Sanjay Kumar in Karimnagar and took him into custody, prompting the MP’s supporters and party workers to stop the police.

In the video that has surfaced, the detainee Sanjay can be seen being dragged by the policemen and later made to sit inside a police van. He was reportedly taken to the Bommala Ramaram police station in Nalgonda district.

BJP leader Amit Malviya posted a video and in his tweet slammed CM K Chandrasekhar Rao, saying, “Telangana police in a midnight campaign arrested BJP state president Bandi Sanjay Kumar with fabricated allegations of his involvement in secondary school paper leak.” Arrested on charges.”

Malviya said, “It will not be good for KCR.”

BJP state general secretary Premendra Reddy said, ‘BJP state president Bandi Sanjay was detained by the police at midnight. He has been illegally arrested from his residence in Karimnagar.”

“They should have started some legal process in the morning itself, where would the captive Sanjay go? This is nothing but obstructing PM Modi’s program in Telangana.

“What was the need for this action against an MP in the middle of the night? What are crimes and cases? They are not telling us anything. He is being taken to Bhongir. Why is he being taken there?” Reddy further questioned.

“The reason behind this action is that we are raising our voice against the KCR government regarding the question paper leak issue. All this is against ‘democracy’.”

Following the detention, BJP leaders from Telangana announced that a statewide protest would be launched.

The development comes days ahead of PM Modi’s visit to the state. PM Modi is scheduled to visit Telangana on April 8, where he will inaugurate the Vande Bharat Express train from Secunderabad to Tirupati, along with several other developmental projects.
