cabinet approves moratorium plan for telecom companies
The Union Cabinet on Wednesday approved a relief package for the stressed telecom sector, waiving telecom companies on payment of their long dues, including a one-year moratorium on spectrum installment due in April 2022.
The package is aimed at providing relief to companies like Vodafone Idea, which owe the government a huge amount in statutory dues.
The relief package approved by the cabinet includes a component where telecom companies can get an option to convert interest on their spectrum dues into government equity with a moratorium of four years.
