San Francisco: Tesla CEO Elon Musk Has Announced That The Company’s Supercharging Station Will Accept Cryptocurrency dogecoin as payment.
The Santa Monica Supercharger will officially accept Dogecoin as a form of payment, making it the first Supercharger in Tesla’s network to accept crypto as a payment method.
“Of course, you can pay in Doge (sic),” Musk said in response to a tweet Ryan Zohouryfounder of Tesla Console who said they were already full ten minutes after the new Santa Monica Superchargers were opened.
Musk, an outspoken supporter of both Doge and bitcoin, has long hinted at bringing Doge as a payment method to various parts of Tesla’s business. The company accepts Doge in its online store and there are rumors that Tesla is finally accepting crypto as payment for its vehicles.
In a recent interview, Musk also backed Dogecoin over any other crypto coin.
“Bitcoin has a low transaction value and a high cost per transaction. At least on a space level, it is suitable as a store of value. But fundamentally, bitcoin is not a good substitute for a transactional currency,” They said.
Musk also confirmed that he has a significant personal investment in bitcoin on top of Tesla’s investment and that he has a small Ethereum and Dogecoin Holdings.
