We expect the 5-door Thar to be available with a hard top as standard, unlike the 3-door variant which also gets a soft top option. Also, speculations suggest that the 5-door version of the off-roader may not get a 4×4 configuration as standard. It could use the Scorpio-N’s 2.2-litre mHawk diesel and 2.0-litre Amstallion turbo-petrol engines, which are more powerful than the engines offered with the regular Thar.
As of now, Mahindra sells the 3-door Thar at a starting price of Rs 13.53 lakh, which goes up to Rs 16.03 lakh (both prices, ex-showroom) for the top-end trim. However, expect the 5-door Thar to be a bit expensive.
