Thane: Traffic was affected on Thane’s Ghodbunder Road for nearly three hours on Wednesday when a chemical-laden tanker rammed into the middle while climbing the Patlipada flyover.
According to officials, no one was injured in the accident.
Thane’s Regional Disaster Management Cell Avinash Sawant said the tanker was loaded with 10 tonnes of anthill benzyl aniline chemical.
“The tankers were on their way from Gujarat to Ratnagiri when the driver lost control and hit Madhyaika at around 2 am on Wednesday.”
After the accident, the diesel tank got punctured after which fuel started leaking on the road.
The rescue team reached the spot and stopped the traffic all the way.
Officials said they have deployed a crane to shift the overturned tanker to the roadside.
Initially, traffic was allowed through the surrounding lanes after officials sprinkled sand on the spilled diesel.
Traffic was resumed on the route about three hours after the accident.
