Although Bollywood stars are praising the teaser and sharing their excitement about the upcoming film, a certain section of Indian netizens was not impressed. While the topic of ‘nepotism’ came up for discussion, others could not connect the dots and wondered about the relativity of the film.

“Archies to Americans belongs to all small town teens, but here he gets the treatment of an urban elite class man who doesn’t look and dress like 99.9% of Indians to cast Indians in an adaptation You have to make them feel like one,” commented a Twitter user.

Another said, “I love @iamsrk but this series is the most disconnected show ever with Indian kids playing as European kids in the 80s. Zero interest garnered. It’s like some American kids playing Hawaii Playing with the background in the days of Malgudi!”

Another said, “How does it look like an Indian adaptation.. Where do Indians wear such clothes, eat burgers, pizza, donuts when you tell the Indian adaptation it should feel to you on screen as well.”

Another added, “#TheArchies from #NetflixIndia looks like a bunch of kids who have never actually read Archies.”

There were also those who stood up for the film and its cast, “People on Twitter should stop whining about the Napo kids every time a movie comes out. If you don’t like it, don’t watch it.” .Latest is the #Archies series on #netflixindia. Cringe they are saying it doesn’t capture the ‘real India’. Bc everything should be gang of Wasseypur?!”

Meanwhile, there were some who revived the nepotism debate. Responding to the film’s poster, a Twitter user said, “It should be called ‘The Multiverse of Nepotism’.”
