The biggest reward is if my students learn ‘humanity’: West Bengal primary school teacher listed for National Award

The Union Education Ministry has released the list of teachers who have received the National Teacher Award from various states. A teacher from Jaipur Primary School in Bankura, West Bengal has also made it to the list. Buddhadev Dutta said that the entire credit for this special recognition goes to his school and the entire Bankura district. He said, ‘This honor is not just for me but for everyone.

Datta, who is currently in the capital Delhi to attend a national level seminar, said, “As a teacher, the recognition is incomparable. But for this I want to thank all the students, teachers, officials of the school. We all have this belief. If my students can learn humanity, compassion, wisdom, that will be my biggest reward.”

He further added that since he was also a student of Jaipur School, there was always a sense of responsibility towards this school as well as the district. He said, ‘With this honour, now the responsibility has increased. This is the first time that a primary school teacher will receive the National Teacher Award.

total of 46 teachers across the country will be honored With this special ‘National Teacher Award’. The award will be conferred by the newly elected President Draupadi Murmu at Vigyan Bhawan on Teachers’ Day on 5 September. This list includes high school teachers from other states. There are also teachers of CBSE, CISCE Board Schools.

The awardees include Nishi Kumari, a teacher from Mahadev Higher Secondary School (Bihar), Amit Kumar of Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya Theog (Himachal Pradesh), Umesh TP of GLPS Amritpura (Karnataka), Anju Dahiya of Government Secondary School, Barwasni. (Haryana), Principal of BCM School (Punjab) Vandana Shahi and Principal of Chhatrabhuj Narsee Memorial School (Maharashtra) Kavita Sanghvi.
