The 10-day celebration of Onam, which began on August 30, culminated with grand celebrations across the country. The harvest festival of Kerala marks the homecoming of the legendary king Mahabali. Apart from flower decorations, rangolis, boat races and folk dances, Onam Sadhya is the main attraction of the festival. A typical Onam Sadhya feast consists of 24 vegetarian dishes served on a banana leaf. British High Commissioner to India Alex Ellis also attended the Onam celebrations at Kerala House in Delhi, in a traditional manner. He also shared a short video on Twitter, giving us a glimpse of his Onam Sadhya Prasar.

From folk dances and floral decorations to the Onam evening meal on giant banana leaves, Alex Ellis got the opportunity to experience the Onam festival in its most original form. We could see festival-special dishes like pachadi, poori, rice, banana and payasam on the leaf. Following the customs, the British High Commissioner also served the Onam meal with his own hands.
