check book holders Allahabad Bank, Oriental Bank and United Bank of India need to apply for new check book as soon as possible as their old check book will become invalid from 1st October 2021. This change of check book is due to the combination of Allahabad Bank with Indian. Bank while Oriental Bank of Commerce and United Bank of India merged with Punjab National Bank (PNB). Both PNB and Indian Bank have informed about the check book update on Twitter and have advised their customers who have transferred their bank accounts from any of these three banks to get a new check book.

Indian Bank tweeted about the check book update for its Allahabad Bank customers and said, “East Allahabad Bank customers can continue to enjoy a seamless banking experience with Indian Bank by ordering a new check book Because the old check book will no longer be acceptable from 1st October, 2021.”

Indian Bank advises its Allahabad Bank customers to go through net banking, mobile banking or bank branch to get the new check book.

Similarly, PNB also advised its Oriental Bank of Commerce and United Bank of India customers to get a new check book, “Old check book of EOBC and EUNI is going to be closed from 01-10-2021. Please. Replace your old check book. EOBC with PNB check book and updated PNB IFSC and MICR of EUNI. Get your new check book at your branch or apply through ATM/IBS/PNB one.”

PNB further said that all bank customers are requested to use the new PNB check book with updated IFSC and MICR to avoid any transaction related inconvenience.

Apart from these 3 PSU banks, four other banks were merged with other banks under the mega bank amalgamation scheme of the central government. Syndicate Bank was merged with Canara Bank while Andhra Bank and Corporation Bank merged with Union Bank of India. After this mega bank amalgamation, PNB has become the second largest Indian commercial bank after State Bank of India (SBI).
