The culprits should be given strictest punishment: Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal on death of woman after being dragged by car for 4KM

Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on January 2, 2023 condemned the incident in which a 20-year-old woman died after her two-wheeler was hit by a car and her body was dragged for 4 km from Sultanpuri to Kanjhawala .

Mr Kejriwal said on Twitter that the incident was “shameful” and the culprits should be given the “severest punishment”. In a tweet in Hindi, the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) national convenor said, “What happened to our sister in Kanjhawala is very shameful. I hope the culprits are punished severely.”

“Five people have been arrested in connection with the death of the woman. The victim’s two-wheeler was hit by a car in which the accused were traveling on January 1,” said the police.

A video has surfaced on social media purportedly showing the woman’s body without clothes and with broken legs. PTI Could not independently verify the veracity of the video. The footage also claimed that the victim was raped and killed, but police said it was an accident.

The Delhi Commission for Women (DCW) has issued a notice to the city police regarding the incident.

Police said the victim’s body has been sent to Sanjay Gandhi Memorial Hospital in Mangolpuri for post-mortem. The victim’s leg got stuck in one of the wheels of the car and she was dragged for about four kilometres, he said.
