Udupi: ‘Gandhi Odu Campaign‘ is a campaign to encourage children to learn and understand the life of Mahatma Gandhi. Over 1,000 children from various high schools kundapuri They are part of this reading campaign started by the community, a cultural organisation.

Gaonkar told TOI, “The Gandhi Odu campaign was simultaneously launched in Bramhavar and will soon be extended to other districts. Currently it is for high school students and in the first phase, teachers to project Patron. Out of 50 high schools in Kundapur, 35 have participated in the campaign and conducted various activities like reading books, designing posters and taking quiz in the last few months.”
“On Monday, a copy of the book was handed over to around 1,000 students from different schools. We intend to intensify this drive through the BGVS units in the districts. With a QR code in the book, student Gandhi’s question paper And access the quiz,” he said.
Speaking on the book ‘Makkaligagi Mahatma’ he said that the Kannada book contains stories on the life and struggles of Mahatma Gandhi.
“I have written these 51 stories based on some credible research and archival sources. Each story has illustrations, and the book is an attempt to bring the life and struggle of Gandhi to young readers in an engaging manner. Priced at Rs. 20 and has already been pre-booked for 5,000 copies. The preface to the book is by Bolvar Mahmad Kunhi – the critically acclaimed Kannada writer,” he said.
