The IMD has predicted ‘light to moderate’ rain in this state today. check details

India Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted light to moderate rain in 12 districts of Tamil Nadu in the next three hours. Meanwhile, earlier this week the weather agency had issued an orange alert for the state for today and tomorrow, saying ‘extremely heavy rainfall’ is likely in the region.

It has been raining incessantly for the past few weeks in the southern Indian state.

Chance of rain in these areas:

“Light to moderate rain is very likely at one or two places over Pudukottai, Ramanathapuram, Tuthukudi, Sivaganga, Madurai, Theni, Dindugal, Tiruchirappalli, Thanjavur, Tiruvarur, Nagapattinam and Mayiladuthurai districts of Tamil Nadu and Karaikal next,” the weather agency said. 3 hours.”

The IMD had earlier this week issued a yellow alert in the state till Friday, November 26. It said on Tuesday that Tamil Nadu would receive “heavy rain” on November 23 and 24 and “extremely heavy rain” with thunderstorms on November 25 and 26. The agency has issued an ‘orange’ alert on November 25 and 26.

Earlier on Tuesday, the IMD has predicted light to moderate scattered/very widespread rainfall over Karnataka, Kerala and Mahe and Tamil Nadu, Puducherry and Karaikal during the next five days.

“A cyclonic circulation lies over southeast Bay of Bengal and lower troposphere level. It is very likely to move west-northwestwards towards Tamil Nadu coast during next 4-5 days,” the IMD said in an official statement.

The weather forecast agency further said that a trough is extending into a cyclonic circulation from southeast Bay of Bengal and adjoining lower troposphere up to Tamil Nadu coast.
