‘The Kashmir Files’ is a concoction, J&K was under rule in 90s, NC was not in power, says Omar Abdullah

Directed by Vivek Agnihotri, The Kashmir Files stars Anupam Kher, Darshan Kumar and Pallavi Joshi.

Omar Abdullah said that not only the Pandits who migrated and killed in Kashmir but also Muslims and Sikhs were killed.

The National Conference has slammed the makers of the film ‘The Kashmir Files’ for calling it a fabricated story a ‘projecting lie’.

The party’s working president Omar Abdullah said, “The NC government was not ruling Jammu and Kashmir in 1990, but there was governor’s rule under VP Singh’s rule.”

“If it’s not a documentary, it’s fine, but the makers themselves claimed that the film was based on reality,” he said.

“But the fact is that the film depicts many lies and the biggest one is that it has been shown wrongly that there was a NC government,” he said.

“There was a BJP-backed government led by VP Singh at the Centre,” Abdullah told reporters.

He said that not only the Pandits who migrated to Kashmir and were killed, but Muslims and Sikhs were also killed. “Muslims and Sikhs have also left Kashmir and they have not returned yet,” he said.

He said it was regrettable that KP left Kashmir but NC tried and continued to play its part to bring back KP safely.

“But the film Kashmiri Files has spoiled such plans,” the former chief minister said. On the recent visits of BJP chief JP Nadda and Jammu Home Minister Amit Shah to Jammu, Omar said the NC is looking into the developments and will act accordingly.
