Filmmaker Vivek Ranjan Agnihotri is elated with the critical acclaim and the overwhelming response his latest release ‘The Kashmir Files’ is getting across the country. Certainly, one of the most talked about and highly debated films of its time, the Exodus drama has been doing well at the box office, leaving the cash register ringing.

Recently on his social media, Vivek shared an interesting post revealing about his family background and what exactly inspired him to make ‘The Kashmir Files’. Posting a picture of his ancestral home, the filmmaker wrote, “This is our ancestral home where I grew up. We had nothing. We didn’t even have walls in our house. But my grandfather made us do Saraswati Puja. And my father became the Vice-Chancellor. And translated all Kalidas and Vedas. It is because of Saraswati that I could create #TheKashmirFiles.”

Despite several hurdles including non-holiday releases, limited publicity, limited screen count and huge competition from ‘Radhe Shyam’, ‘The Kashmir Files’ has emerged as the winner at the box office, earning Rs 15.05 crore on its fourth day i.e. Monday. It passed the crucial Monday test with full color.

With huge critical acclaim, stellar storyline and stellar performances, ‘The Kashmir Files’ is doing well at the box-office.

Living up to its title, ‘The Kashmir Files’ is a true story, based on video interviews of the Kashmiri Pandit community’s first generation victims of the Kashmir genocide. It is a heart-wrenching narrative of the pain, suffering, struggle and trauma of Kashmiri Pandits and questions eye-opening facts about democracy, religion, politics and humanity.

Written and directed by Vivek Ranjan Agnihotri, the escape drama features a stellar cast of actors including Mithun Chakraborty, Anupam KheriDarshan Kumar, Pallavi Joshi and Chinmay Mandlekar.
