In a veiled attack on the ruling party after eight people, including four farmers, died in Uttar Pradesh’s Lakhimpur Kheri district, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on Sunday said that one who is silent on the incident is already dead.
Describing the incident as an “inhuman massacre”, he tweeted, “Who is silent even after seeing this inhuman massacre, is already dead. But we will not let this sacrifice go in vain – Kisan Satyagraha Zindabad! #Farmer Protest”
The Uttar Pradesh Police said that eight people died in the Lakhimpur Kheri incident on Sunday.
Lakhimpur Kheri Additional Superintendent of Police Arun Kumar Singh confirmed the death of eight people, including four farmers and four riders, in a vehicle that allegedly ransacked the farmers.
Commenting on the incident, Congress general secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra tweeted, “How much does the BJP hate the farmers of the country? Don’t they have a right to live? If they raise their voice, will you shoot them, will you kill them? Will trample. Car? That’s it. This is the country of farmers, not the fiefdom of BJP’s brutal ideology. Kisan Satyagraha will be strengthened and farmer’s voice will be raised.”
Priyanka Gandhi Vadra reached Lucknow on Sunday evening to visit Lakhimpur Kheri district of Uttar Pradesh on Monday. He is likely to meet the families of the victims killed in the incident.
Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel will also visit Lakhimpur tomorrow.
The United Kisan Morcha (SKM) issued a statement regarding the incident which claimed the deaths of four farmers and alleged that one of the four farmers was shot dead by the son of Union Minister of State for Home Ajay Mishra Teni, while Others have reportedly been crushed. their convoy vehicles.
He called upon the farmers’ organizations across the country to protest against the death of farmers in the Lakhimpur Kheri incident of Uttar Pradesh between 10 am to 1 pm on October 4 in the offices of District Collectors and District Magistrates in all districts.
The SKM also demanded that the matter be probed by a sitting Supreme Court judge.
