‘The Sandman’ to hit Netflix in August

“The Sandman,” a live-action adaptation of Neil Gaiman’s popular graphic novel, premieres on Netflix on August 5.

As part of its Geeked Week event, the streaming platform took to its official Twitter page to announce the release date and share the first teaser of the much-awaited series.

“You ain’t dreaming… The long-awaited premiere date of The Sandman is finally here: August 5th! #GeekedWeek,” read Netflix’s tweet.

The first season also stars Gwendoline Christie, Vivienne Achempong, Boyd Holbrook, Charles Dance, Asim Choudhary, Sanjeev Bhaskar, Kirby Howell-Baptiste, Mason Alexander Park and Donna Preston.

“Star Wars” veteran Mark Hamill will voice fan favorite character Merv Pumpkinhead.

After switching hands and formats, “The Sandman” was greenlit as a fantasy series by Netflix in 2019. With another delay in production, the shooting of the show finally started in late 2020 and ended in August 2021.
