The Telugu film industry is in mourning over the death of film editor Gautam Raju, who has worked in over 400 films in Telugu, Tamil, Hindi and Kannada.

Prolific and well-known editor Gautam Raju, who worked extensively in Telugu cinema, breathed his last in the early hours of July 7 in Hyderabad. He was 68 years old and was reportedly ill with age-related issues. Telugu film personalities including actors Chiranjeevi, Sai Dharam Tej, Manoj and Lakshmi Manchu and composer MM Keeravani and several directors and production houses condoled his demise. Raju has edited more than 800 films in Telugu, Hindi, Kannada and Tamil.

Born in Tamil Nadu in 1954, Raju’s early works in Telugu cinema are Chiranjeevi’s rocky kallu levu and director Jandhyal Nalugu Stambalata in the early 1980s. He worked with leading directors and production houses for four decades. He received Nandi Award for NTR-starrer e.t.c,

Chiranjeevi’s nephew and actor Sai Dharam Tej paid his respects to Gautam Raju by remembering him as a “man of great work and character”, with whom he worked closely at an early stage of his career, and said that Raju would always He will be remembered through his work.

Actor-producer Manchu Vishnu said he learned a lot from Gautam Raju since childhood: “He was instrumental in many blockbusters in Telugu.”
