The thug who cheated as the Divisional Controller of BMTC arrested

Yesvantpur police on Monday arrested a 35-year-old thug, who posed as the Divisional Controller (DC) of Bangalore Metropolitan Transport Corporation (BMTC) and tried to defraud the staff members.

However, Noor Ahmed’s luck ran out when Mohan Babu, assistant traffic superintendent of Yesvantpur depot called the head office for a cross check on suspicion and later alerted the police.

Yesvantpur Police Depot No. 26 more Ahmed was caught and brought to the police station for questioning.

A detailed interrogation led him to confess that he was trying to make some quick money as the newly appointed DC on the pretext of inspection.

A high school dropout and unemployed, a resident of Yeshwantpur, Ahmed used to go to government offices and collect information about officials. During one such visit to Yesvantpur depot, he came to know that the DC has been transferred and the employees are waiting for the new DC to come. He decided to use the opportunity to make quick money and posed as the newly appointed DC and inspected some depots and questioned the employees before meeting Mohan Babu, the police said.

The accused have been booked under cheating and impersonation and remanded to judicial custody.
