Political strategist-turned-activist Prashant Kishor on Saturday praised Congress leader Rahul Gandhi’s ‘Bharat Jodo Yatra’.

Kishor, who is on a padayatra in his home state of Bihar, was asked by reporters in Motihari about the similarities, if any, he saw between his own effort and Gandhi’s marathon march.

“Bade log hain (they are big people). Compared to them, I am nothing,” Kishor said, adding that his ‘Jan Suraj’ campaign in Bihar came after a long round of failed talks with the top leadership of the Congress, which he wanted to join and his professional Were convinced to revive using skills.

“Rahul Gandhi is on a 3,500 km long march. Kilometers don’t matter to me. I’ve been running non-stop since October. But I don’t want to show it as a proof of my physical fitness,” remarked Kishor with a subtle sarcasm.

Dubbed an “opportunist” by the political mainstream in Bihar, he insisted that he infused his campaign with “purity of intent”.

“It is like the penance of Chhath (festival). Can take a sip of water. But true devotees do not make such compromises and complete a grueling 36-hour fast.”

“For me there is no break or visit to my home during New Year. Nor do I agree to indulge in short rides on my way to the next destination,” said Kishor in an apparent jibe at the Congress leader.

Kishor first came into limelight after handling the spectacularly successful campaign of Narendra Modi in the 2014 Lok Sabha elections. He called it a day as a professional strategist ahead of the 2021 assembly elections in West Bengal, where his client, Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee registered her biggest victory.

Meanwhile, the IPAC founder had done business with political leaders as diverse as Nitish Kumar, Uddhav Thackeray, MK Stalin, Arvind Kejriwal, Amarinder Singh, Jagan Mohan Reddy and K Chandrasekhar Rao.
