There is a possibility of cold wave in the plains of North India including Delhi from today

The Met office has forecast light fog in Delhi for Sunday, while the maximum and minimum temperatures are likely to settle around 17 and seven degrees Celsius, respectively.

The IMD said that cold wave conditions were all-time high in Delhi-NCR between January 16 and January 18. In Ayanagar and Rijim, on Tuesday and Wednesday, the minimum can remain around three degrees Celsius.

An IMD official said that large parts of north and northwest India recorded below normal maximum and minimum temperatures for most of the days this month before a western disturbance brought respite from the cold.

This drop in maximum and minimum temperatures in the last 10 to 11 days was caused by a dense fog layer over the Indo-Gangetic plains and a large gap between two western disturbances, which brought snow from the rocks and cold winds from the mountains. Last longer than normal.

Meteorological officials said that the Sindhura-Gangetic plains have a high probability due to the large number of streams and rivers in the region. Once the Western Disturbance follows behind, cold northwesterly winds will move towards the region.

At the same time, the outbreak of severe cold increased significantly in Punjab on Saturday and it fell further in many places. Bathinda and Amritsar were in the grip of severe cold and the minimum temperature remained near zero. Bathinda recorded a minimum temperature of 0.6 degrees, while Amritsar recorded a minimum temperature of 1.2 degrees.

The maximum temperature in Chandigarh was 13 degree Celsius and the minimum temperature was 11.4 degree Celsius. The Regional Meteorological Center said Gurdaspur and Moga recorded a minimum temperature of four degrees Celsius, while the maximum temperature settled at 15 degrees and 14 degrees, respectively. The maximum temperature was recorded at 16.6 degrees Celsius in Mexican and 15.6 degrees in Patiala. Mohali recorded a maximum temperature of 13.4 degree Celsius.

Ambala in Haryana recorded a maximum temperature of 14 degree Celsius. The maximum temperature in Sirsa was 17.5 degrees Celsius, Hisar 15.5 degrees Celsius, Rohtak 14.8 degrees Celsius and Bhiwani 14.7 degrees Celsius.

Information was received in many parts of Himachal Pradesh. Manali received 23 associated snowfalls, Khadrala and Shilaro 16, Kufri 12, Sandhi Bharmour 10, Sandhi six in Mike and Gondla, Dalhousie and Kalpana four. Pravesh’s weather center has predicted dry weather over the region for the next four days and warned of an impending green and cold wave.

Meanwhile, an avalanche hit a village in Gurez sector of Jammu and Kashmir’s Bandipora district on Saturday, but there was no report of any loss of life or property. Officials gave this information. According to officials, an avalanche warning was issued for 12 Atlantics, including Bandipora, after moderate to heavy activity a day earlier.
