There will be no power cut in Maharashtra: Deputy CM Ajit Pawar

Deputy Chief Minister of Maharashtra Ajit Pawar He assured that there would be no coal shortage or power cuts in the state during the festive season.

Ajit Pawar said, ‘There will be neither shortage of coal nor power cut in the state. A few days ago, only two days’ stock of coal was left in the state. But we have found the solution. Shortage. There will not be a situation in which people have to celebrate Diwali in the dark. During peak times of power supply, we will take it from the central government’s grid,” the news agency was quoted as saying by reporters. ANI.

Earlier, Maharashtra Energy Minister Nitin Raut said that four of the 27 power generating units in the state are currently closed and added that there will be no load shedding due to the coal crisis.

“Despite the coal crisis, we have tried to supply electricity to our citizens. Even after the coal shortage in the state, only four of the 27 power generating units are closed,” he said.

Meanwhile, Coal Minister Pralhad Joshi on Thursday said closure of some mines and submergence of some others has triggered monsoon crisis, but there is no need to panic as the situation is improving.

While visiting the Ashoka mine of Central Coalfields Limited (CCL) at Piparwar in Jharkhand’s Chatra district, Joshi said that the power plants in the country would continue to receive coal in the required quantity.

“We are seeing improvement now,” he said, asked about the current situation.

The Minister discussed the prevailing situation with the officials of CCL and Eastern Coalfields Limited (ECL).

Emphasizing on the need to produce more coal, he said, “We can produce two million tonnes of coal per day.”

Joshi told reporters that the supply of coal to power plants was disrupted due to the closure of some coal mines and submergence of some others due to monsoon.

The minister also discussed the issue related to the availability of land for mining in the meeting.

He said that a solution would be found with the cooperation of everyone including the district administration.
