Mann said his government has made constant efforts to improve educational standards by providing full support to educational institutions

Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann on Saturday termed the financial indebtedness of educational institutions as a social curse and said that there would be no dearth of funds so that no child in the state is deprived of the opportunity to get quality education.

Addressing a gathering on the 62nd Foundation Day of Punjabi University here, Mann said that providing opportunities for education was the primary duty of the government and it was a matter of great pride and satisfaction that his government was doing this job efficiently.

According to an official statement, Mann said that his government is making constant efforts to raise the standard of education by giving maximum support to educational institutions.

“This university is the pride of Punjab and Punjabi mother tongue. This premier educational institution is also known as the ‘Heart of Malwa’. I had given a guarantee to free this university from the burden of debt to restore its glory and ancient glory.

Mann further said that in this year’s budget, the state government has made a provision of giving a grant of Rs 30 crore every month to the university. He said, “I have full hope that this university, coming out of financial crisis, will achieve great success in the field of higher education.”

The Chief Minister said that Punjabi University is playing a leading role for the youth of the state. “This University inspired me to follow new ways and new ideas in my life. My creativity took wings in this University and the stage of Sri Guru Tegh Bahadur Hall made my dreams come true.

Mann further said that the state government is making a lot of efforts for the promotion and propagation of Punjabi language.
