Contrary to the trend among top actors who often own luxurious properties, Anupam revealed that the only real estate he ever invested in was a home for his mother in Shimla. His decision to refrain from owning property in Mumbai was a conscious one, driven by a desire to maintain a simple and unencumbered lifestyle.

To fulfil this dream, he purchased a property in Shimla with nine bedrooms as a gift for his mother, Dulari Kher. When inquiring about the number of rooms in the house, Anupam Kher revealed that the broker’s response was, “It had nine bedrooms.” He emphasised that his decision to invest in a mansion rather than a single room was driven by the desire to give his mother something truly exceptional, reflecting the deep bond between the actor and his family.
