This Incredibly Stunning Photo of a Lunar Eclipse Is Ruling the Internet: “Shadow and Sunset”

He titled the image “Shadow and Sunset”.

This week, sky watchers and moon-lovers from East Asia to North America were treated to a rare sight, as the Earth, Moon and Sun aligned to produce the last total lunar eclipse until 2025. Blood Moon, another stunning image going viral on the internet is sure to take away the prize. On November 8, US-based astrophotographer Andrew McCarthy created an incredible composite image, showing the Moon in various phases of the eclipse throughout the night.

In a Twitter post, Mr McCarthy noted that he used two telescopes to capture the composite image. Where the first telescope was used to capture the intricate details on the lunar surface, the second was used to capture the rich tones cast by Earth’s shadow on the disk. He titled the image “Shadow and Sunset”. ,

Sharing the beautiful picture, he wrote, ‘A composite image from this morning’s eclipse showing the moon in different phases throughout the night. The size and shape of the Earth’s shadow is clearly visible here. These events are absolutely magical to watch and quite real.”

He shared another image, which shows the total lunar eclipse in all its glory.

According to universe todayMr. McCarthy watched and photographed the entirety of the eclipse from his backyard in Arizona. “In total, I shot about 150,000 images. My strategy was to first take photos using my c11 on the native 2800mm with the asi174mm’s faster but smaller sensor. I photographed the moon in small segments, capturing thousands of frames per segment.” which was then sorted, stacked and sharpened, so when the panorama of the moon was stitched together it had incredible detail,” he explaineduniverse today,

A total lunar eclipse occurs when the full Moon comes into the deepest part of Earth’s shadow because the Sun, Earth, and Moon are aligned. When it occurs within this part, called the womb, it exhibits a reddish tinge.

The next total lunar eclipse will not be visible until March 14, 2025.
