An Indore-based IT company has implemented an automated system that shuts down the computer systems of employees as soon as their shift time ends. Taking to LinkedIn, Tanvi Khandelwal, an HR specialist at SoftGrid Computers, posted a picture of the warning and revealed that her firm had put a reminder in the office desktops of its employees to promote a healthy working environment .

“Warning!!! Your shift is over. The office system will be shutting down in 10 minutes. Please go home!” Read message on desktop. In her post, Ms. Khandelwal wrote that you don’t need “any Monday Motivation or Fun Fridays to lift your mood” when your computer prioritizes a healthy working environment. He added, “And this is the reality of our office. Yes, in this era we believe in flexible working hours and a pleasant working environment.”

Ms Khandelwal shared the post a few days ago and it has since accumulated over 374,000 reactions and over 6,700 comments.

While many appreciated SoftGrid’s initiative, some believed it was restrictive. Many users also argued that the move would create unnecessary pressure on employees to meet tough deadlines with longer working hours, especially if the work required overtime.

A third LinkedIn user said, “It is reverse psychology that will create pressure to meet deadlines quickly. We should avoid controlling human behaviors and let employees manage their own deadlines.”

“This is, it seems to me, a well-researched, diplomatic ploy by the company to put more pressure on employees by creating tighter deadlines for completing a task,” commented a fourth.
