2023 with exactly 100 days for men’s hockey World Cup Bhubaneswar-Rourkela, India Captain Manpreet Singh has said this is the most exciting phase of the build-up, and the team’s performance at the 2022 Tokyo Olympics and Birmingham Commonwealth Games has raised hopes that the team can win the coveted trophy.

With hockey fever rising in the country, the game’s best exponents will turn to India to compete for the World Cup trophy. India, who won a silver medal at the Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth Games, are eager to continue their good form and become champions.

“It’s a very exciting time for us. There are just 100 days left in the World Cup. We are working very hard for this tournament and we are looking forward to performing for our country. Hopefully we go ahead.” We can do well and win the biggest hockey tournament in the world. We have done consistently well since the Olympics and we would like to continue our form in the World Cup.

Vice-captain Harmanpreet Singh said that his team has improved manifold over the years and the World Cup will provide an opportunity to realize its full potential.

“We can’t wait for the World Cup to start. Our team has grown manifold over the years and it is time to play to our full potential and win the FIH World Cup for India. We are working on all aspects of our game which we need to improve and I think we will do even better in this edition of the World Cup.

FIH CEO Thierry Weil also expressed his excitement for the World Cup, saying, “It’s really exciting that the World Cup is only 100 days away! We look forward to excellent matches at the iconic Kalinga Stadium in Bhubaneswar and the all-new Birsa Munda Stadium in Rourkela, which will be a great legacy for hockey not only for India but for the world. On behalf of FIH, I would like to thank Hockey India for what will surely be a memorable event together.

Hockey India President Dilip Tirkey said, “It is a huge honor for us to host the World Cup 2023 Bhubaneswar-Rourkela and we cannot wait to welcome the world’s top hockey players to India. All preparations for the tournament are on track and we are very excited to organize the biggest hockey tournament. I would like to invite all hockey fans to watch the high-octane action between the best teams in the world in Bhubaneswar and Rourkela.

The Indian team will take on Spain in their first match of the World Cup on January 13, 2023 at the newly constructed Birsa Munda International Hockey Stadium in Rourkela.
