This video of a Komodo dragon swallowing a deer in one gulp is not for the faint of heart

There are many videos on the internet that show apex predators hunting prey in the wild. Now, a horrifying video has emerged of a Komodo dragon attacking a deer and then swallowing it alive in one gulp. The deer tries to get out of the reptile’s jaws but all efforts go in vain.

The video posted on Instagram begins with a Komodo dragon attacking an antelope with its razor-sharp teeth. The deer was not able to fight back. Within seconds, the Komodo dragon pounces on the deer and swallows the animal whole in one go.

The video has taken the internet by storm, inviting a barrage of comments on Instagram.

Komodo dragons are the largest and heaviest lizards with long tails, strong and agile necks, and strong limbs. They are native to Indonesia. These wild dragons typically weigh about 154 pounds (70 kg), but the largest verified specimen reached a length of 10.3 feet (3.13 m) and weighed 366 pounds (166 kg). According to the Smithsonian’s National Zoo and Conservation Biology Institute, males tend to be larger and heavier than females.
